What's your ordering policy?

We reserve the right to make any last minute adjustments to cake as needed. We try to interpret YOUR ideas on CAKE. Please note there may be discrepancies. Color matches are not guaranteed. We work with icing...we do our best to get it to the color you request. 

How do I place an order?

The best way to place any orders is to stop to talk about your order directly with our staff. Alternatively, you can send us an e-mail at nextdoorbakeshp@gmail.com or through our contact page. We require pre-payment for all orders to be confirmed, and all orders must be paid no later than noon the day before (for example: an order for pick up on Thursday needs to be placed and paid for by noon on Wednesday). When e-mailing us, please give a full description of your order: attached reference pictures if needed, date required, theme required, colors, serving size and any other relevant details.

I placed an order through email, is my order confirmed? 

No. Your order is confirmed when payment is received.

Can i pay for my order at the time of pickup?

We ask that all orders be prepaid before pickup. We bake fresh and specifically for your orders each morning and prepayment ensures no wasted product. Any order over $100 must be paid for in full at least 7 days in advance unless other arrangements has been made.

I have severe food allergies; can you make my cake that is allergen free? 

While we do make Gluten-free/Vegan cakes and other gluten-free products, and many of our flavors and products do not contain common allergens, we are not an allergen-free facility. Even with precautions taken, any of our products may come into contact with milk, wheat, nuts, soy, and other allergens. Therefore, we cannot guarantee any of our products as perfectly safe for someone with food allergies.

When do i need to place my order?

We encourage you to place order as early as possible because we are book up fast on certain day.

For all standard decor orders we require that they be placed and paid by noon the day before, given that we are not at our capacity on your event date. For all other orders see below:
Fondant/Custom – We require 7 business days for all fondant orders.
Custom Cakes – For cakes we require 2 weeks notice.
Deliveries – We need 48 hours minimum notice for any deliveries. We have a very small staff and need to ensure that we have someone available to run the delivery.
Cake Pops – One week minimum notice is needed for cake pop orders.
Mini Pies – We require one week of notice for all mini pie orders.

Do you deliver in Blacksburg area? Can it be delivered at any time I want? 

Yes we do!! The cost of delivery is $10. Since we run on a small staff we have to make sure we have someone available to leave the shop for the delivery. We also ask that we are given a 1 hour window for delivery.

Can I pick up the cake myself?

If you choose to pick up your cake and transport it yourself, we are not liable or responsible for the cake once it has left the bakery. You should prepare your vehicle so it is clean and free of items that could roll or slide into the cake. We do everything in our power to provide a well-structured cake, but please note that cakes are very fragile and break easily. Drive carefully and slowly.

What is your refund policy?

Refunds are not provided for any reason. Due to our full schedule and our attention to detail, we spend many hours planning and preparing before even beginning on a cake. However, it is transferable if you reschedule your event or you can use it toward different cake or your next order.
